Avon Big Color Eye Pencils Make Pool Parties All the Better!

My obsession with Jumbo Eye pencils has been well documented, so it should come as no surprise that I'd end up grabbing up a few of Avon's Big Color Eye Pencils when they were put on sale.  Through a series of unfortunate events, (Avon accidentally sent me the shade Eggplant instead of Vanilla at first) I actually lucked out and ended up with 3 colors instead of the just the 2 I paid for :)  I also got a very pleasant surprise in regards to the pencils' abilities!

Top-Bottom:  Vanilla, Celadon, Eggplant
Vanilla
Vanilla is a cream with a slight shimmer.  I purchased this because I thought it was going to be matte and I couldn't think of any other jumbo pencil that was just a matte cream color.  Upon swatch, however, it does have a bit of a shimmer to it, but nothing too much.  It gives the lids something a little extra, but I hesitate to even call it shimmery.
Celadon
I though Celadon would be a more of a minty green or a sea foam green based on the swatch at Avon's website.  In reality, it is in fact closer to it's namesake, if only a little deeper in color than a traditional celadon green.  Like Vanilla, Celadon also has a tiny amount of shimmer in it, just enough to give it a slight glow.
Eggplant
Eggplant is a deep neutral plum matte.  I apologize for the appearance of the pencil in this picture, but it was delivered to me in this broken-off condition.  I didn't order this color though, so I didn't mind it.
L-R:  Vanilla, Celadon, Eggplant
All the colors were very pigmented and glided on smoothly without tugging.  Vanilla, in particular, is just a great product to have in your collection.  I love using it as a base to even out my eyelid and in the inner corners to brighten my eye.  You could even use it as a highlight or on the waterline to make your eyes look bigger.

And that pleasant surprise I mentioned before?  Well, it's not really a surprise if you're a normal person who reads all the product description.  These pencils turned out to be completely waterproof!  It took me FOREVER to get the swatches off my hand with makeup remover.  I also went swimming while wearing Vanilla all over my lid and I promise you it didn't budge one bit.

I really don't recall seeing that these were waterproof but looking at the page today I see it written plain as day so I don't know how I missed that.  They are just as waterproof as the Urban Decay Shadow Pencils I raved about but at a much lower price!  Where Urban Decay has the leg up is their vibrant range of colors.  However, if you're not so into the loud shimmer factor, Avon might be better suited for you.

Bottom Line:  Amber Really Likes!

If I had realized these were waterproof I probably would've bought more colors.  I do wish there was a larger range of colors available with some brighter shades, but alas.  I highly recommend checking these out!

You can find more information on these pencils on the Avon website.  They retail for $7, but are often on sale for $3.99 (which is the price I paid) or other various deals as per the routine on Avon!
