Maybelline Color Tattoo Review & Swatches!

Edgy Emerald (L) & Tough as Taupe (R)
I'm sure many of you have already read reviews of the biggest rage in Maybelline's new line of products and honestly I don't have much to add.  I'm pretty much about to parrot what everyone else is saying, these things are true gems!  Read on for swatches and a few words on the new Maybelline Color Tattoo in Edgy Emerald & Tough as Taupe!

Edgy Emerald (L) & Tough as Taupe (R)
Firstly, let me get the color descriptions out of the way.  Edgy Emerald is an enchanting sea green with a bit of a golden sheen to it.  Tough as Taupe, which is the one that I was most excited about, is one of the few true mattes in the line.  It's also an actual taupe, (sometimes when a product says taupe its actually just a dark neutral brown.  It reminds of the color, and feel for that matter, of clay.  In the pot before you swatch it, it looks like it has more brown in it than it actually does.  But when you finally swirl your finger around in it and apply it most of the brown goes away.  What you're left with is a very cool taupe that leans more gray and is so cool that it almost seems to have a bit of a purple undertone to it.

As far as the actual product, it is like a tattoo in that it stays put all day without fading or creasing, but not like a tattoo in the respect that when you're ready for it to come off, simple makeup remover with erase it without a trace, so don't worry about having a hard time getting rid of it at the end of the day.  And when I mentioned that these stay put all day, I mean it.  I ran my finger across the both of the pictured swatches and not one of them budged, smudged, or smeared!

If you're looking for a quick look in the morning, these are perfect all on their lonesome!  They super easy to blend and they pack a beautiful punch.  On first swipe, some may be more pigmented than others but pigmentation is easy to build up to your preference of opacity.  My favorite thing to use them for, however is as bases.  These make any shadow you put on top of them pop like never before.  And they make awesome primers since their intensity last all day without fading or creasing.

What I'm really impressed with is the wide range of colors.  Maybelline included everything from a matte taupe to a metallic gunmetal and from a nice bronze to a bright exciting orange!  The sky is the limit!

Bottom Line:  Amber LOVES!!! <3<3<3<3<3

Many have said these Color Tattoos are good dupes for MUFE Aqua Creams (did I mention the Color Tattoos are waterproof too?) or MAC Paint Pots.  Unfortunately I don't own the MUFE or MAC versions so I can't confirm if this claim is true, but Maybelline seems to have created a worthy competitor.  Do you own the MUFE or MAC equivalents along with the Color Tattoos?  If so, how do they compare?
